Due to my work commitments, with all the audits and exams coming as well as my other life commitments, I will be taking a break from updating this site for a few weeks! However, when I have time, i.e. sick of studying, I might just drop a couple of posts for you.
Till then, take care my loves!

Fred is 100!
You know whenever a fashion icon celebrates a monumental occasion, the design houses almost always come up with a limited edition collection for the rest of us to join in the celebration? Well, Fred Perry has just done that!
The month of May marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Frederick John Perry, who (in case some of you are too ignorant) was the world's No. 1-ranked tennis player for five years in the thirties and is still the last Englishman to win the singles crown at Wimbledon and the U.S., French, and Australian Opens. It is said that Mr. Perry was the man who invented the now-standard practice of aggressively hitting tennis balls on the rise, rather than waiting for them to float safely at the top of their arc.
Besides being such a legendary tennis icon, he is also legendary in iconic branding. Like, seriously, after all these years, when asked about Fred Perrry, everyone thinks of polo t-shirts on top of Polo Ralph Lauren but that is just pfft. You get what I mean?
Anyway, in honor of the occasion, his namesake company is releasing a special edition of polos with enlarged 16-leaf laurels in three palettes. They do not look any much different from the standard ones but I think that is a plus point! I mean, like all the special edition collections that's out there, you do not really wear it alot cause it becomes so dated after a while. Ay least, with the Fred Perry's polo, it will look normal on first glance and it doesn't scream 2009 when you wear it again in 2012. So, it costs US$95, available May 15, fredperry.com.
Only at fredperry.com? I'm a very touch, feel and try kinda shopper, I wish they will have it at the boutique down at Ann Siang.

Rachel Bilson for Instyle.
I have heard recently that Rachel Bilson, the actress is joining the Instyle team and be their resident fashion editor. She will have her own column where readers can just ask her style questions.
I wonder how her column is going to be like! Anyway, I so wish I can do that too. I have already given style tips to my bosses at work! If only I get paid for it!

Bring this to NMS please!!
I really wish that they will bring Waist Down- The Skirt by Miuccia Prada to Singapore after the recent Christian Lacroix stint. I'll be thrilled to see those works of art.
However, if you are pretty impatient and pessimistic, you can always go down to Seoul's Transformer building starting from next month.
The first Waist Down exhibition was staged from 2004-2005 in the Prada store in the Aoyama district of Tokyo. Following another Asian incarnation, in the Peace Hotel in Shanghai, the exhibition travelled to Prada in SoHo, New York, and then on to Prada on Rodeo Drive Beverly Hills. Apparently, the exhibition takes care to adopt a little of its local environment, changing each time to reflect the fashions of its surroundings.
Let's just hope it makes its stop here in Singapore!!

Billykirk
Another bag to add to my wishlist! This elegantly macho deep green duffle from billykirk. Of course, I wish I could actually find it in Singapore. I can see it matching perfectly with my deep green geometric Calvin Klein t-shirt and my dark blue April 77 denim and my grey perferotad pointed Pedro shoes and my Agnes B dogtag and black onyx ring and my black onyx bronze neck piece! To top it all off, either my Black Prada shades or my Silver framed Aldo aviators!
Oh, fashion-godmother, please let me have this bag, please!

Men Jewels
For those of you who do not quite know me, I love my jewels! I have a whole wall dedicated to my collection of everything from neck ties to bows to neck pieces, badges to brooches, watches to bands to cuff links to rings. I love my rocks, bling and metal and everything in between. I was surfing stylehive as usual on my mornings and found this gorgeous Fred Meyer wedding band. Yes, its a wedding band, but I don't mind having it! Its gorgeous, platinum with a darker black band. That is understated luxury! Now, the only thing is, what should i engrave on the under side... me & I forever?

Schedule's up, tickets on sale, time to party!
The AFF's schedule is up and tickets for some of the shows are already for sale. Another week of fashion frolicking! Besides having Christian Lacroix and Vivienne Westwood, we have staples like Ashley Isham, Gareth Pugh and Raoul showing too. Of course, we will also have Marc Jacobs showing! The calendar looks rather sparse compared to previous years but let's hope we have better shows. Having said that, I am very pleased with the scheduling, most of the shows are being held after 6pm, which is perfect for me. I can save up my leave to party in Ibiza!
Another show that I think one should watch is the Blueprint show featuring blackmarket as it features local designers like Elohim (Singapore), Nikicio (Singapore/Indonesia), Gian Romano (Singapore/Philippines), Stella Rissa (Indonesia) and Reckless Ericka (Singapore).
But get your tickets fast. Shows like Marc by Marc Jacobs are already sold out!

Christian Lacroix Costumier, a must see!
Over the weekend, my two youngest siblings and I went to see the Christian Lacroix Costumier exhibition at the National Museum of Singapore which I must say, is beautiful beyond words. All of usl agreed that the word of the day is 'drama'.
Everything was dramatic! The sets were dramatic and so were the costumes. The exhibition was so intelligently choreographed that it feels alive. Not only is it an exhibition on his creations but it is also a tribute to opera, ballet and theater. , On closer observation, you find more surprises like the intricate embroidery and decorative stitching.
You could see some influence from his costumes to his ready-to-wear collection. I mean, look at the pale pink corset worn underneath a short jacket paired with a pale skirt over tailored pants. Imagine that being designed so long ago.
One thing that we realise is that, the collections are not only dramatic but it breathes, moves and lives. We could really understand what he meant when he said "his costumes have to give the performers a complete transformation" and also provide them strength and support not only physically, appearance-wise, but also spiritually. Magnificent! A great costumier, indeed!

Great News!
Yes, this is great news for me and for everyone else in Singapore who love Uniqlo!
Before the news that Uniqlo will be setting up its first South East Asian outlet in Tampines 1, the new suburban mall in, you guessed it, Tampines, all I could do was just browse online and look at how cool their clothes are. But soon, like April 9th, I can just go down and not only browse the collection, but touch it, feel it, wear it and buy it! OMG!! I am thrilled!
I always dreaded going down to Tampines and whenever a colleague of mine calls Tampines a cool hangout place, I always beg to differ. Firstly, its pretty much out of the way, like being at the eastern part of Singapore. However, now that we will have Uniqlo there, I have to kinda agree with her! Yes, Tampines is finally becoming cool!

Save Earth Day!
Last Saturday was the official Save Earth Day and Singapore did its part with the rest of the world in switching off their lights; in offices, hotels and stuff. My family did it too, for the fun of it. Well, sort of. We still had our telly switched on. Shame on us! However, to make up for it, I shall buy more organic clothes like these jeans from 4 stroke.
4 stroke started out in 2006 as a label fronted by Theodora Richards and worn by hot girls! Yeah, hot girls! It was definitely something fun and cool and edgy and ....it stopped at that. But 3 years on, the guys are getting a piece of the action. 4 stroke announced recently that there will be a new mens' collection inspired by the 50s jeans' silhouettes.
Besides being all cool and funky, the jeans in the collection are all 100% organic selvage and indigo recycled cotton which means, we are being green which also means I have an excuse to shop more and not worry about my carbon footprint. I am saving the Earth!!! Guess, I can switch on my lights now!

Lacroix at NMS
Seems like Christian Lacroix reached town sooner than the Audi Fashion Festival. The legendary haute couture designer who made his mark during the 80s with his flamboyant and opulent creations presents his exquisite costume design work at the National Museum of Singapore from the previous friday all the way til the 7th of June at the Museum's Exhibition Gallery 1 and The Canyon.
Close to 80 splendid costumes and about 60 sketches from the collection of Centre National du Costume de Scène (National Stage Costume Centre, Moulins, France) and from Lacroix’s personal collection will be on display.
There will be guided tours daily as well as interactive activities for the young ones. If you fancy some serious art appreciation, you can always go for the curator's tour on 9th April and 22 May at 7pm.
I, myself, will be goin down soon! Its much cheaper than watching a movie! So that's another thing to do during these recession times!
I will share my thoughts and pictures of the exhibitions soon!

Monogram out.
Louis Vuitton is known for its trademark LV monogram but having seen this SC Bag in calf leather, I think monogram is old school. I never really liked monograms in the first place cause I feel that they are so in your face, and having everyone in the train carrying a monogram bag doesn't make the situation better either.
As such, the SC bag is my pick. However, do not let the understated elegance deceive you. The Louis Vuitton SC bag is going to empty your pockets by SGD 5,900. Of course, if you do love monograms, go for the monogram one which will cost less at just a mere SGD 3,400. Ain't exactly a recession fashion!

Jessica Alba in Elle
Jessica Alba, the gorgeous actress who is constantly portrayed as sexy siren in many movies and shows did a photoshoot for Elle Magazine and yup, she is a sexy siren no matter what caresses her hour glass figure. Just check out this pictures. Doesn't she just looks stunning.
Of course, she is not the only gorgeous thing to look at, just look at the clothes. Love the zipper detail in this dress and the little blue underlining.
Love this royal blue dress. Its a dress that is so sweet and pretty. And it reminds me of Karen!! Miss you, sister! Hope all is well in Beijing for you!
So, what do you think of the pictures? I think she looks pretty and i love the last dress too, its just so pretty and sweet. My sisters love that dress.

Perry Preppy West Coast Ellis
I was pretty much looking for inspiration for my outfit to a friends summer wedding in May here in Singapore (which explains the summer! haha!) where I will be one of the compares. My fellow compare will be dressed in a deep purple-blue dress and I thought I should not clash with her and decided to do some research but of course, I am distracted as I ended up watching the Perry Ellis Spring Summer 09 collection.
My verdict- I love it! It is all about being preppy and yet still has that slight edge to it. John Crocco, the designer for Perry Ellis, described the collection as 'preppy west coast'.
I have to say it is pretty evident in the collection. The colors that he chose are pretty pastel colors as in both being pretty and pastel. However, the way it is used and layered and styled gives the colors are more masculine take. For example, you see pink shirts, baby blue sweaters paired with cargo pants and having tailored loose airy shorts paired with west coast styled hoodies. Even Nigel Baker, the famed photographer and judge on America's Next Top Model agreed, saying that the collection is a guys dream for the fact that is stylish and comfortable. I totally agree with him. Comfort and style, the best combination ever for a guy.
After watching the show, I immediately decided to check out his collections online and look what I found, this casual and preppy pair of two toned stripe pants. If only they have Perry Ellis here in Singapore.
Another thing that I found and love is this Moon Dot tie which is just esthetically pleasing although, I must add, I won't exactly have the opportunity to wear it. But, then again, I can also hang it up and display it like all my other ties in my room.
I do hope that the coming Audi Fashion Festival will have more men shows! At least, I will have a reason to splurge!

Marc Jacobs tied the knot.
It seems that Marc Jacobs is engaged to his one year long boyfriend Lorenzo Martone. They arrived in Brazil to visit Marc Jacobs' new Sao Paolo's store which opened in January, with both of them wearing ring on their fingers. It comes to no surprise then that Sao Paolo is Lorenzo Martone's hometown.
Shucks, I guess Marc Jacobs is really off the shelves now. Nonetheless, many well wishes to them and also to a friend of mine who is having his commitment ceremony over the weekend in the land down under. Congratulations!

SFF makes way for AFF!!
When we were first told last year that there won't be any Singapore Fashion Festival for this year and next, everyone were outraged. I personally, had mixed feelings. I kinda felt sad that I can find no more excuses to take a whole week's break from work to watch gorgeous models strutting their stuff covered in lavish designer wear. Having said that, all the while that I attended the shows, I wanted so badly to see the much bigger and lavish names to be showcased. Like last year, Calvin Klein was considered huge and it was the so called grand finale for Singapore Fashion Week 2008. While it was absolutely fabulous, I wanted more. More spectacular shows, more eclectic designers, more model behaviour, more glib tongue fashionistas.
Well, I asked for more and more is what we will be getting. It was officially announced last weekend through the press that the Audi Fashion Festival will replace the Singapore Fashion Festival. The fashion week will be held from the 6th of May to the 10th of May 2009. This five day event will have Christian Lacroix opening the event while Vivienne Westwood will be closing the week with her Anglomania collection. Now that we have all these European designers gracing our runways, let's hope that we will have an equally great show from our local designers as well.
The schedule is not up yet, but I just cannot wait to see who else is showing besidess Westwood, Lacroix, Ashley Isham and Gareth Pugh. I'll keep my fingers crossed!!

Jonas-ilistic
Now, as if the Jonas brothers ain't everywhere and can't get anywhere without having young virgin girls screaming their hearts out, they just have got to create a new clothing line. They are THE last people who I would expect to come out with a clothing line. I never find them stylish in the first place. I am definitely having my doubts. Perhaps, its just one of those publicity stunts.
But, anyway. If you are a big fan of them (unlike me!) you can expect their line out at all stores that carry the Disney merchandise including Kmart, Sears and Walmart. The kinda line that they will be doing? Well, just check out what they always wear. Pretty innocent for young kids. So, at least we won't have our kids trying to bare it all, aye?

A whole day of masculinity!
Christopher Shannon
The London Fashion Week closed the show with a tribute to men! Yes, the whole day was devoted to menswear from a handful of catwalk shows to a few showcases involving 13 designers. I think its about time that they acknowledge the immense talents in the men's fashion world.
