Black, white and blue in summer 09

I was just watching D&G's Spring/ Summer 2009 fashion show during the Milan Fashion Week and I must say I love it. The collection was pretty much dominated by blacks, white and navy blues with Madonna's Four Minutes pumping up the runway. Of course, it was no where near four minutes. The show started out with tailored suits, both in white and black as well as in between.

Another thing that was constant throughout the collection were the lining! Almost all of the outfits were lined in a different color or design. Also, the shirts worn were all pretty tailored and have little detailings to them which creates a very modern and clean look.

One of those detailings that I love are the different lapels for the buttons. The contrast between pattern and blocks and colors adds a little jazz to the shirts. Oh, did I mention the use of shinning satin! Quite sexy, I must say.

As much as I love all things shiny and glittering, I don't quite dig the super glittery jacket! I find it way too disco! The silver jacket is slightly more bearable but definitely not the bronze one!

The collection were getting a little bit monotonous half way through the show but before they lost me, they introduced patterns into the collection which I found quite refreshing. From jackets to shirts to pants, patterns were introduced everywhere.

Of course, its never D&G without the tight shorts! Haha! If only I was adventurous enough to wear them out. By the way, love the sandals! I am so saving up for those!

And of course, D&G will always have their sporty outfits every time they put on a show, so here they are.

And the show ended with the models walked out dressed in full white satin suits, complete with bow ties and those raybans! I am not throwing them away. Seems like we will be using them again next summer!

Frank Brown, model and agent?

It seems that the model who was first discovered by the legendary Steven Miesel and was shot for a spread in Italian Vogue has been marketing himself. Yes, his move on being his own modelling agent sparked from his disatisfaction from his former agency. Like he said, "These days it seems that if you want something done right, it's best to do it yourself." And so he did.
He has modelled for many big names like Banana Republic, Sixt, ADD, Cesare Paciotti and graced the runways for Etro, Issey Miyake and Junya Watanabe just to name a few.

So, how does he market himself? Well, he has his own blog with all updated and most recent shoots, projects and even polariod shots. Also, he included all the information you need about this rising super male model. Check it out here.

Well, we all wish him the best of luck and we will be happy to see more of him soon!

Olympic Fashion 2008

Now, since the Beijing Summer Olympics is well under way with our little island bringing home a silver medal in table tennis, I thought we should highlight a couple of uniforms worn for the meet. Of course, the biggest hu-ha is the uniform for USA which was designed by Ralph Lauren. Its super preppy which is a signature style of Polo Ralph Lauren. They have the suit and the slightly more casual look. How I wish my school uniform back in the days were designed by Ralph Lauren! Japan's uniform has been unveiled in a ceremony in Tokyo and was modelled by their athletes two weeks prior to the games. I would say its not too bad. The Aussies too decide to play it safe with their uniform but of course still retain their suits with a slight hue of blue. Not to forget matching bags. Also, their shoes are by Mileno.
The Spanish love their reds and yellow and thus, their color of choice for their uniform. Really bright, I must say.
The Russians love their hats and it has become part of their uniform! Red, blue and white are the nation's color! Thankfully, the guys were blue and the ladies wear red or the three colors mixed together will make the outfit kinda confusing. Great Britain are known for their effortless style and it shows in their uniform. Perfect for a walk at the English Countryside. The Brazillians too opted for a more casual feel to their uniform! Perfect for a nation of sambas and fiestas! And my favourite uniform would be by the French. Yes, France's outfit is very unique and stylish! Kinda reminds me of DKNY's Spring/ Summer 08 collections where crisp shirts are paired with shorts and finished with an obi belt! Gorgeous!
I have to mention that the dresses worn by China's hostess during the victory ceremonies are quite beautiful too. The ivory or white silk qi pao with cloud designs in various color are very elegant. They also have it in like knee length dresses and full length ones. I saw them during the swimming victory ceremonies which have blue linings and the athletics victory ceremony which have green linings. If only I can get hold of pictures of it to show you guys!
Oh well, uniforms reflect a country's personality and I am sure each one of them are designed with pride and thought!

National Day fever!

National Day was just over but the dinners for national day ain't over yet. There is still the Prime Minister's rally speech this weekend! So, I thought I might show a couple more dresses to wear for those patriotic feel. Haha.

Both the dresses I am featuring are both from London- based Singaporean designer, Ashley Isham. This first number is a more simple and sexy party dress, suitable for our weather and you can most probably find it in his boutique at Fullerton. After all, the dresses are from Spring/Summer 08 collection.

This other piece, on the other hand, takes a lot of confidence to pull it off. Maybe, for an art exhibition? Or maybe not, you might be mistaken as one of the works! Haha!

More shoes!

First up is this really weird but quite clever flip flop/ shoe. Yup, I can't decide which it is. But i guess, it makes a great transition from the wet market to the supermarket, perhaps?
DSquared2 came up with this tartan ankle boot. I love the color and all, im not so sure about the tartan. I think tartan is kinda like last year. The shoe looks very chunky and not to mention rebellious! Haha! I think i saw it in some fashion arcade game online! haha! Maybe, it will be nice for a punk concert!

Happy Birthday Singapore!

First of all, Happy National Day to Singaporeans! And since national day is the day where we take out all of out red and white outfits to wear, I thought i might as well highlight two outfits by two Singaporean designers in red and white. First up, the man known for his gowns and wedding dresses, Frederick Lee. What a stunning red dress! Perfect for a black tie event, huh? Kudos to Joe Rahim too, though for being such a wonderful wardrobe stylist. Hope to see more great works from both of them soon!
Next up, Hayden Ng's red and white sating Scarf dress. He has been comin up with lots of scarf dresses and he was the one who came up with the magic skirt. And if you don't really want the red and white scarf dress, you can always get the other variety.

Also, I just wanna highlight that I love the dress Ms Eunice Olsen wore to the National Day Parade. If only I can get a hold on that picture. She looks stunning with the hair all neatly coiffed up. Definitely, the best dressed Nominated Member of Parliament.

So, two more shoes to add to the weird shoe collection. The first one is from Dsquared. Maybe, its not too bad. After all, it is kinda tone down. Apart from the lightning, the shoe looks kinda alright.
And the next one, I found will browsing through the internet. This has got to be the most environmentally friendly slippers ever! And, it is real grass mind you! Don,'t forget to water your slippers!

Well, there has been words flying around in the fashion world that designer, Marc Jacobs is marrying his boyfriend of 5 years last weekend. However, it has not yet been made official which leaves the whole of fashion world guessing if Marc Jacobs and the Brazilian ad executive, Lorenzo Martone walked down the isle in Paris.
