Happy Niu Year!

Its all things Chinese right now in Singapore as majority of its citizens are celebrating the year of the ox. As such, I would like to wish all my friends, family, clients, readers and everyone else a Happy and Prosperous New Year and Great Holidays!! May this new year brings more health, joy and wealth!

Michelle has been getting more attention!

The Inauguration of the latest American President was just held a few days ago and it sure did a whole lot of attention from everyone all around the world. Not only because of Barrack Obama being the first Kenyan American president of the United States of America but also due to the anticipation of what his wife, Michelle wore for the historic day. The first outfit that she wore was from Isabel Tomel ( I hope I spelt that right) which is a pretty first lady0like lemony fresh dress. Hee.


Her evening dress is a white creation by Jason Wu. She sure does look good, I must say, compared to the previous first ladies. Very pretty! Of course, ever since Michelle Obama wore Jason Wu's creation for the inaugural ball, his site has received 4 MILLION hits the day after the inauguration and the flow has been steady ever since. This guy has got to thank Michelle for shooting him into fame! Now, everyone wants to see what he has to offer to the public! I reckon there will be more Jason Wu creation gracing the red carpets. Let's just wait and see!

Dolce & Gabbana goes Scarlett

Well, they sure did go scarlett with both the actress and the color of the lipstick. So, here is another celebrity fronted ad. This ad kinda reminds me of the old Hollywood glam, pretty Marilyn Monroe kinda style. Way to go Scarlett!

Katie Holmes for Miu Miu

Another celebrity joining the likes of Madonna and Victoria is Katie Holmes. She modeled for Miu Miu in the latest ad. See the pictures and see which of the celebrity fronted ads you prefer.

More celebrities doing ads!

Madonna has recently did ads for Louis Vuttion, now its Victoria Beckham but not for Louis. Victoria Beckham is joining her husband in stripping down for the billboards. This time round, Victoria is doing it for Armani and the ad is expected to be up on the billboards in Spring 2009. Although this ad is for lingerie, it sure has less crotch than Madonna's Louis Vuitton ad. Maybe, they should trade places!

Now, with all that well dressed celebrities, there are bound to be a couple of embarrassingly dressed celebrities. So, here is a look at the celebrities who made the cut.

In order not to shock you, let us start if the average dresses like Angelina Jolie. She sure looks hot after just months of giving birth to twins but I just do not understand the dress. It looks so, hmm...I do not even know how to put it. It almost looks cheap and that's very bad when its on Angelina Jolie cause its pretty hard for her to make things look cheap. I reckon its the loose top that doesn't quite do it for me. It looks like putting on a t-shirt and tucking it in a skirt.




Also going for the gold on the red carpet was Beyonce Knowles. The dress is fine, the necklace gorgeous but I just can't breathe seeing her in the dress. The dress is like 2 sizes too small for her. Perhaps, that is why her smile seems restrained.



Beyonce's necklace and Eva Mendes almost look similar. Both are pretty exquisite. However, the dress that Eva Mendes wore seems like it had extra fabric stuck to the front or she has forgotten to remove her napkin after lunch.



Now, its beginning to get worse. I am confused with Marissa Tomei, she just looks so messy here. Too many frills, too many accesories and the white blouse and black skirt combination makes it slightly matrony but with a little rock 'n' roll vibe.



Another rockstar is Mickey Rouke. How I wish he would have worn the jacket slightly snuggier and a simple black matt shirt inside. It just looks too messy as it is.



My pick for the worst dressed celebrity is definitely, Renee Zellwegger. She is definitely in her own league. Seriously, what kind of a dress is that? Speechless....

Leonardo Tagged!

Recently Zhang Ziyi was selected to be Omega's Ambassador and now, Leonardo DiCaprio has been 'tagged' to be Tag Heuer's ambassador. I guess that makes up for not winning in the recent Golden Globes Awards!

Red Carpet Hits

Its the awards season and the latest award ceremony was the Golden Globes Awards. Its the time to dress up and here are my top picks for the best dressed!

First in the line up is Miley Cyrus, Love the white chiffon dress with a nice gold print underneath. Its simple, sexy, young and fresh. Sweet!



Maybe its just me, but I seem to like chiffon or those flowy light and translucent kind of fabrics. I mean, I love the dress worn by Drew Barrymore, though I wish the hem at the bottom of the dress wasn't so big. It almost look like curtains but, the blue is so calming. However, I don't really like her big hair though. It just added like 10 years on her. Poof!



You do not have to overdo things all the time like having big hair or flamboyant dresses to catch the media's attention. Sometimes, all you need is understated elegance. Just like how Kate Winslet look in her simple waisted black satin dress. Its simple, elegant and beautiful. Of course, Leonardo makes a perfect compliment. Although, the oufits of both of them put together seems to remind me Mr and Mrs Smith. Hmm...undercover work?



Last but not least, I bring to you America, as in America Ferrera. She too kept it simple at the awards which always work. I won't say its the most stunning dress in the event, but it sure fits her gorgeously. I guess, Betty ain't that ugly afterall!

Recession causes Cavalli to sell.

It seems that the economic downturn is affecting everyone even the big players in the fashion industry. Everyone is becoming a budget tai-tai these days.

After months of speculation, Roberto Cavalli is said to be on the verge of signing over up to 20 per cent of his fashion empire to Milan-based private equity firm Clessidra SGR SpA.

"I had to think hard about it over the last few weeks and I believe that it is the right way to ride the recovery after this moment of international economic-financial crisis," the designer, who called off an auction for the stake in July due to the unstable financial climate, said in an interview with Italian daily Il Sole 24 Ore earlier this week - though there has been no official comment on an impending deal.

Cavalli added in the interview that he hopes to list the company on the stock market in 3 to 4 years. His second line, Just Cavalli, is under license to IT Holding SpA and the arrangement is not expected to be affected by a new deal.

Whether or not Cavalli is set to sell part of the empire, we just have to wait and see. However, rumours has it that there are serious conversations going on about it. Let's all just hope for the better!

Not my choice awards

In every competition or awards, there is always the winners and the losers. Since I have shown you my picks of the better dressed celebrities, here are the well, the questionably dressed celebrities.


Robin Tunney sure excels in this category. I have got no idea what she is wearing. The prints look like its on something grandmothers would wear.


While we are still at the topic of prints, I kinda not like Jewel's choice of prints too! It looks so curtain-like. I don't know, but back in the old days of Singapore, those curtains were pretty popular. Never knew its making a comeback, ever worse, as a dress. Urgh!


Moving on from prints to colors! Jessica Stroup is all strapped up in this dress. Although the fit is gorgeous, the colors unique, the dress stunning, there is just one thing that destroys everything. Its that flower ribbon thingy! Looks like she stuck it on there at the very last minute. The dress can so do without it.


Malin Ackerman reminds me of the yellow-white-black swimsuit Gucci had for the past Srping Summer Collection. However, the diagonal color blocks sure looks better on swimsuits than on dresses.


Debra Messing may look hot but this dress just looks weird. Reminds me of that extremely structured dress Estelle wore for her performance for MTV's European Music Award. Its just way too structured.


Debra Messing may have almost pulled off that structured look, Jordin Sparks just failed in it. To make things worse, the material just looks so cheap! It reminds me of a dress one of the girls in my class wore for her secondary school's prom.


Another cheap looking material would be this one word by Nikki Cox. It looks so disco. Lost for words!


Well, at least Nikki's dress fits her like a glove. Look at Teri Hatcher's dress! What's with the shoulder pads? Even my grandma doesn't wear shoulder pads no more. Bad choice Teri! You might be skinny but it sure doesn't look good on you.

MY Choice Awards

The People's Choice Awards was held last week with some big winners. Who? I don't know, I don't care. It doesn't matter. For me, what matters is what they were wearing to the awards. So, here is a round up of my choice of best-dressed celebrities.


First up is Marrisa Tomei! I love her red dress and that stunning vintage-like jewelry! Absolutely stunning.


From red dress to luscious red lips. Jennie Garth sure knows how to inject a little bit of color and seduction in an all-black ensemble.


Its all summery with this one. I love the green printed dress Summer Glau wore to the awards. It looks so comfortable and yet extremely stylish. A bit safe I must say, but it sure works well for her!


Amber Stevens looks simple and sexy in this number. And boy, does it fit like a glove! Sexy!



Laurie Loughlin looks so clean in this white number. I do love the pleats on the dress. It may be about a season ago, but it sure looks good.



Laurie wasn't the only one in white, Olivia Wilde too went for white at the awards. Sexy and sophisticated! Love it!


Another lady in white, well more of ivory, is Paris Hilton. Her dress may look a little bit Barbie-like but I have to admit that it sure looks good on Paris!


Sometimes, you do not need to wear white to look all goodie and innocent. Just check Dakota Fanning out, she looks so lovely. Now, all the young girls out there, natural always look sweet!


Paul Bettany deserves a mention cause he looks just so smart and chic in this tailored suit. Simple, classic but always works!


Paul may have gone for classic but Gavin Rosdale decided to change it up a lil bit. He still look smart but with and edge!

Scarlett Johansson, I think she deserves her name. I mean, look at the latest issue of Harper's Bazaar! She is literally a scarlett and she looks damn gorgeous in it! Christian Louboutin gives punk some class.

Yes, look at this gold spiked heels by Christian Louboutin. I reckon there is a reason for the spikes. I reckon its more for safety purposes. I mean, with spikes like that, you sure can beat the daylight out of anyone who tries to steal your Louboutins (or beat the hell out of the paparazzis) Perhaps, that's the reason why Victoria Beckhams wore it out for dinner!



Besides Ms Posh, Pink too has a pair after she used you for her latest music video, Sober. In an MTV's Making the Video, she said, she is definitely gonna put her spiked Louboutin in a glass showcase out of reach from everyone!

Omega's New Ambassador

The Memoirs of A Geisha star, Zhang Ziyi (or Ziyi Zhang for the western counterparts) is the latest addition to Omega's long list of who's who in cinema, sports and fashion and thus, earns her a spot as Omega's ambassador.

Zhang Ziyi is a Global Ambassador for the Special Olympics, the competition for those with mental disabilities and is an ambassadress for Care for Children, a foster-home program organized in China.

With all those credentials, she still manages to get her people angry over her new year pictures on the Caribbean island of St Barts with her fiance Vivi Nevo. I say, give that girl a break, everyone needs to loosen up at times, aye?

However, don't sweat over it. Apparently, she is back in China filming her latest comedy, Sophie's Revenge, which she costars with Chinese actress Fan Bingbing and South Korean actor So Jisub. Of course, this will also be the frist movie that she will be producing.

Guess who is being roped in for the latest Louis Vuitton advertisement? Oh well, the picture's here, no need for guessing! Seems like the biggest Hollywood divorce doesn't stop her from fronting Louis Vuitton, aye? She sure knows how to steal the limelight.



First, the most expensive divorces in Hollywood, then the talks for Madonna wanting to adopt again and she is fronting LV's ads. She is definitely working out her years! Oh well, look at the ads, what do you think? It definitely reminds me of her music videos!
