He for Mango

Mango, the Spain-based retailer, who is also pretty popular for its very affordable wear here in Singapore, has collaborated with Adam Lippes to come up with a limited edition line called, Adam for HE.



The collection focuses on basics, from airy, lightweight t-shirts to striped knits and cotton woven suits. The silhouettes are said to have similarities with the ADAM by Adam Lippes collection such as the high armholes for shirts and shorter shorts.



Not to worry, though, it being a collection for Mango, all of its limited pieces are going off at less than USD200, thats about SGD250 to 260 for us. Except for the leather jacket and trenchcoat with are about 400 buckaroos!



You can definitely get all this affordable fashion only at the Shaw House outlet in Orchard if you are in Singapore! They are all in stores now!

Night of Winners, really!

Now, let's look at the real red carpet winners starting with Angelina Jolie in Elie Saab. She looks stunning here although its nothing extraordinary. Yes, its just another black dress but she deserves a mention especially after wearing sacks for the last couple of awards! Much better now! Of course, Brad always compliments her.



Another Elie Saab creation is seen on Evan Rachel Wood and yes, its another winner on the red carpet. Love the champagne color and the weave of fabric on the bodice. Simple and very elegant.



Meryl Streep in Alberta Ferreti. She always dresses her age and she always looks sophisticated and stunning. Told you style lasts forever!



Marisa Tomei has been looking good this award season but she barely makes the mark for the Oscars in this Versace number. Perhaps, the picture doesn't do much justice to this intricate dress that looks pretty washed out in this picture. The train, however, looks as if it has a fan blowing underneath it creating that airy feel.



Another white number is this pretty dress by Balmain on Penelope Cruz. It looks like a wedding dress, a vintage one in fact, and there is nothing like a vintage bridal dress. Too much of the waves could have turn it into curtains for my windows but the detailings are the ones that save the dress. They are just splendid. Exquisite!



Beyonce wore the same shape dress as Vanessa Hudgens but lost due to its over the top gold prints while the latter won for its simplistic design. Of course, Zac Efron as an accessory gave her an advantage too.



While most of the celebrities opted for a more subtle and dark colors, Amy Adams decide to be the lady in red (besides the lady behind Penelope Cruz in the picture above!). Carolina Herrera always have beautiful, simple classic designs and it shows here once again! Her gorgeous necklace just makes the outfit I tell you. She looks like a greek goddess! So what was your fav look for the Oscars?

Night of Winners, not!

The Oscars was held on Monday with Slumdog Millionaire winning big this award season. (My parents watched it and has been telling everyone on how good the movie is. So, I think you should watch it!) Even if Slumdog Millionaire won big for the Oscars, I don't think Freida Pinto, the actress for the movie scored on the red carpet!



She may have chosen a John Galliano piece but its like Drew Barrymore's dress that she wore to the Golden Globes. Remember the curtain like finishings at the bottom of the dress?



See the similarities now? I didn't like the one Drew Barrymore wore nor do I like the one Freida Pinto wore but if I were to choose between these two evils, I'll have Drew Barrymore's dress.



Another one that I did not like is Beyonce's dress by, (surprise! surprise!) House of Dereon!Yes, perhaps the cut is very flattering and pretty classic but I am not so sure bout the massive gold prints. It kinda reminds me of upholstery. Sometimes, what looks good on furniture and curtains, don't neccessarily look good on human bodies! Drew, Beyonce and Freida take note! Or perhaps, upholstery is the new fashion?



As much as I love Heidi, I do not really like her luminous pink dress that looks super stiff and has a pretty high slit! To make things worst, she has to have a one shoulder collar. However, if you fancy it, its by Roland Mouret.



I thought its the financial crisis but after looking at many dresses the past award season, everyone seems to be having a little too much extra cloth that they just hang everywhere as seen here. This dress by Prada worn by Jessica Beil is one of those napkin dresses. Perhaps, its a symbol that the financial crisis ain't hitting them at all?



Yves Saint Laurent is known to have stunning works of art but this dress worn by Kate Winslet, ain't exactly what I call stunning. It could be that the picture does no justice but it kinda remind me of dresses that my school girls would wear from prom. Something pretty customade like how they wanna have french lace on the dress but can't really decide on it. This is what happens. Bits and pieces of lace stuck onto the dress.



I think Sarah Jessica Parker shops like a guy. It seems that she always sticks to the same silhoutte for her outfits. The only variation is the length. As a whole, it may not really look that bad but its so predictable that is has just become pretty forgettable. The slight hint with the undercoat showing through and lookin like Freida's and Drew's dresses doesn't help much. As such, I have no choice but to place Sarah Jessica in the winners category, not!



This dress by Valentino is, I don't know, but kinda looks ordinary. I have many of such dresses here in Singapore and somehow they look kinda cheap and what the slightly older mahjong playing ladies would wear. Sorry, Jennifer Aniston, but welcome to the world of wet market aunties!

Vintage Glam for Zac Posen

Yulia Kharlaponova

Zac Posen showed at NYFW with a collection that is pretty romantic with touch of gold and bling to amp up the glamour factor. The blue dress that Yulia wore looks soft and very feminine. Very old school glamour!


Sasha Pivorova wore a dress that, to me, looks a little bit too messy and too much. I don't understand the many mirrors! If you thought the shiny suit by Calvin Klein was like a light reflector, this one needs everyone to wear shades to look at it! This is the ultimate disco ball!


Raqual Zimmermann

This is one of the very few suits in the collection. I do love the color combinationg. The pastel lavender underneath the khaki coloured suit. I also admire the detail on the jacket. This is not so in the face as the disco ball and yet is different.


Magdalena Frackoviak

This dress that Magdalena wore has a great print. Thankfully, the silhouette is very simple and definitely flattering. If that print was cut and positioned wrongly, it could be disastrous. You could end up looking two sizes bigger.


Lara Stone

Most of the collections were based on a subtle color palette except a few strong ones like this red dress Lara wore. This could have went very well with the other dresses at The Truth Red Dress Collection. The ribbon lace up shoe too is very sweet!


Karlie Kloss

This is a little bit too shiny and gladiator like for my liking, especially with the whole gladiator heels! I thought gladiators are so long gone!


Elsa Sylvan

I kinda like this dress, its pretty romantic and definitely very vintage. Pretty but I do not think its something you can keep and wear forever!


Chanel Iman

Chanel Iman! Yes, Chanel Iman graced the runway for Zac Posen! Doesn't she look lovely? I think all Chanel's are pretty glamorous!


Catherine McNeil

Again the prints are cleverly crafted to create a slim silhoutte. However, I am not so sure about the peek-a-boo flap near the boobs!

Clean Calvin Klein

Calvin Klein has always been one of the designers who I love and buy and keep and wear and you get what I mean. His designs are all about clean and simple lines with very subtle details that make it pretty much a keep throughout the seasons. Just take a look at the suits above. They are simply chic. The other thing that I love about the outfit is that its all made up from the same material and yet it doesn't look boring. In fact, it looks kinda fresh especially the grey suit, (which is a good investment).



Having said that, I don't quite fancy this shiny suit although I have been spotted wearing some shiny outfits before! Hee. Guilty! But hey, at least I wore it sparingly not like the whole outfit is shiny that you are like a disco ball on the dance floor or in this case, looks like an action figurine!



I am, however, on the fence with the above outfits. I love the cut of the jackets such that the lines create definition although I am not so sure about the material used. It looks like sponge! I mean the above one isn't that bad until you look at the following one.



Now, doesn't that makes you look more like an action figurine? Perhaps, it might help make some of us who are not blessed with good physique to look better, which I doubt.



And, I thought it was bad enough as jackets, its even worse when they use the material for pants. Somehow, I feel pretty restricted looking at them. I must say though, I love the shirt and tie! Perhaps, I shall get shirts and tie of the same color! (who am I kidding? I don't wear ties to work?)



This last outfit that I chose to showcase is something I love. I love the jacket, its very relaxed, masculine, sporty almost biker-ish and yet looks kinda classy too especially paired with those slim fit pants. That is total comfort! Overall, I love some of the pieces but I won't say its one of the best shows but still, I will buy some of your clothes when it hits stores!

Victoria Beckhams been busy!

Victoria Beckhams has been busy for the past week running around in her fake fur (don't worry PETA!) but not from attending the many fashion shows. She was actually busy putting up a fashion show at NYFW. She has launched a new line which I must say, looks like what she will actually wear!



The collection is definitely chic, simple and absolutely elegant. Very much like Ms Becks. Of course, that made me wonder if she really did design the outfits or she is just selling off all her clothes.



Nevertheless, it is definitely good news to all of you who wish to emulate Ms Becks' style and be many many Posh clones. Good luck!

Richard Chai Fall 09 for NYFW

Remember some time back, I featured Richard Chai in one of my entries and how I blabbed about how good he is? Well, I'm back but I think he has put on a little bit more weight. Must be all the stress from fashion week. I'm back to obsessing over Marc Jacobs now. Anyway, there were a couple of pieces that I love from him and truly hope I can get them here in Sunny Singapore, (though, it has been pretty humid lately) . I always always always love long sweater like the one you seen above but I just can't seem to find a nice one here unless I walk into the ladies' department.



His homme collection is all pretty masculine and covered up which will be a trend for Fall 09 with many other major designers having jackets, sweaters, cardigans, trenches throughout their homme collection.



I wonder if all that protection is a reflection of such troubled times? And all those boots, they remind me of my army boots which, I must admit, I wore out once! Only once! Of course, noone actually knew it were army boots!


Something I noticed in Richard Chai's collection for fall 09 is all the clean lines and checks that he used. I do love the checked trench coat and the short jacket, its pretty smart, aye?
