Bring this to NMS please!!

I really wish that they will bring Waist Down- The Skirt by Miuccia Prada to Singapore after the recent Christian Lacroix stint. I'll be thrilled to see those works of art.

However, if you are pretty impatient and pessimistic, you can always go down to Seoul's Transformer building starting from next month.

The first Waist Down exhibition was staged from 2004-2005 in the Prada store in the Aoyama district of Tokyo. Following another Asian incarnation, in the Peace Hotel in Shanghai, the exhibition travelled to Prada in SoHo, New York, and then on to Prada on Rodeo Drive Beverly Hills. Apparently, the exhibition takes care to adopt a little of its local environment, changing each time to reflect the fashions of its surroundings.

Let's just hope it makes its stop here in Singapore!!

Schedule's up, tickets on sale, time to party!

The AFF's schedule is up and tickets for some of the shows are already for sale. Another week of fashion frolicking! Besides having Christian Lacroix and Vivienne Westwood, we have staples like Ashley Isham, Gareth Pugh and Raoul showing too. Of course, we will also have Marc Jacobs showing! The calendar looks rather sparse compared to previous years but let's hope we have better shows. Having said that, I am very pleased with the scheduling, most of the shows are being held after 6pm, which is perfect for me. I can save up my leave to party in Ibiza!

Another show that I think one should watch is the Blueprint show featuring blackmarket as it features local designers like Elohim (Singapore), Nikicio (Singapore/Indonesia), Gian Romano (Singapore/Philippines), Stella Rissa (Indonesia) and Reckless Ericka (Singapore).

But get your tickets fast. Shows like Marc by Marc Jacobs are already sold out!

Great News!

Yes, this is great news for me and for everyone else in Singapore who love Uniqlo!

Before the news that Uniqlo will be setting up its first South East Asian outlet in Tampines 1, the new suburban mall in, you guessed it, Tampines, all I could do was just browse online and look at how cool their clothes are. But soon, like April 9th, I can just go down and not only browse the collection, but touch it, feel it, wear it and buy it! OMG!! I am thrilled!

I always dreaded going down to Tampines and whenever a colleague of mine calls Tampines a cool hangout place, I always beg to differ. Firstly, its pretty much out of the way, like being at the eastern part of Singapore. However, now that we will have Uniqlo there, I have to kinda agree with her! Yes, Tampines is finally becoming cool!

Perry Preppy West Coast Ellis

I was pretty much looking for inspiration for my outfit to a friends summer wedding in May here in Singapore (which explains the summer! haha!) where I will be one of the compares. My fellow compare will be dressed in a deep purple-blue dress and I thought I should not clash with her and decided to do some research but of course, I am distracted as I ended up watching the Perry Ellis Spring Summer 09 collection.

My verdict- I love it! It is all about being preppy and yet still has that slight edge to it. John Crocco, the designer for Perry Ellis, described the collection as 'preppy west coast'.

I have to say it is pretty evident in the collection. The colors that he chose are pretty pastel colors as in both being pretty and pastel. However, the way it is used and layered and styled gives the colors are more masculine take. For example, you see pink shirts, baby blue sweaters paired with cargo pants and having tailored loose airy shorts paired with west coast styled hoodies. Even Nigel Baker, the famed photographer and judge on America's Next Top Model agreed, saying that the collection is a guys dream for the fact that is stylish and comfortable. I totally agree with him. Comfort and style, the best combination ever for a guy.

After watching the show, I immediately decided to check out his collections online and look what I found, this casual and preppy pair of two toned stripe pants. If only they have Perry Ellis here in Singapore.

Another thing that I found and love is this Moon Dot tie which is just esthetically pleasing although, I must add, I won't exactly have the opportunity to wear it. But, then again, I can also hang it up and display it like all my other ties in my room.

I do hope that the coming Audi Fashion Festival will have more men shows! At least, I will have a reason to splurge!

Marc Jacobs tied the knot.

It seems that Marc Jacobs is engaged to his one year long boyfriend Lorenzo Martone. They arrived in Brazil to visit Marc Jacobs' new Sao Paolo's store which opened in January, with both of them wearing ring on their fingers. It comes to no surprise then that Sao Paolo is Lorenzo Martone's hometown.

Shucks, I guess Marc Jacobs is really off the shelves now. Nonetheless, many well wishes to them and also to a friend of mine who is having his commitment ceremony over the weekend in the land down under. Congratulations!

He for Mango

Mango, the Spain-based retailer, who is also pretty popular for its very affordable wear here in Singapore, has collaborated with Adam Lippes to come up with a limited edition line called, Adam for HE.

The collection focuses on basics, from airy, lightweight t-shirts to striped knits and cotton woven suits. The silhouettes are said to have similarities with the ADAM by Adam Lippes collection such as the high armholes for shirts and shorter shorts.

Not to worry, though, it being a collection for Mango, all of its limited pieces are going off at less than USD200, thats about SGD250 to 260 for us. Except for the leather jacket and trenchcoat with are about 400 buckaroos!

You can definitely get all this affordable fashion only at the Shaw House outlet in Orchard if you are in Singapore! They are all in stores now!

Pedro is married!

Well, not exactly. But Pedro now has a collection just for ladies! Yes, even though its debut collection is quite limited, they did try their best to provide heels, wedges, platforms and flats. But I must say, the collection are stunning. They look expensive but are pretty affordable.

Well, then again, I can't wear no heels nor wedges! So, I ended up buying this pair of shoes! They are freakishly adorable! The only problem I have is that, I can't find a matching belt nor bag to go with the grey shoes! I manage to find one from Zara and apparently it was a sale item and the last one! I did not get it cause it has a little defect on it! Sighs, I am still on a hunt for my grey bag and belt to match my shoes! I love pointed shoes and so does this friend of mine. He bought all three colours of that design! Well, he just can't wear the grey one when he is out with me! I so love my shoes! I shall be hunting for more shoes soon!

Nothing like Portobello!

Paul Smith's second store located in Mayfair, London.

I have always wondered where do all these designers get their inspirations from. One of my favourite designers, Paul Smith, who just recently opened his second boutique in Mayfair, London, has this to say,

"I'm off to Portobello today to get ideas. (I'm driving there in my black Mini Cooper, eating a scone and dictating this blog at the same time). I love going to the market at the beginning of the year to get inspired - though I'm hoping I'm not too early to see all my old friends there, maybe it's too cold for them.

It's not unusual to see all sorts of designers from the international fashion houses there picking up tips for their new collections and you can often see a strong London theme in their shows as a result. I just like to wander around and either pick up interesting, unusual things for the shop windows - a kitsch statue, say - or ideas for my designs: you might see an interesting pocket detail on a jacket, maybe, or an unusual stitch or a great button. I can't give away all my secrets about which are the best stalls but I'll give you a clue and say try under the bridge and over to the left...

I'm off to Paris next week to talk to the editors of the French newspaper, Liberation, about guest-editing a copy of the paper on the day of Barack Obama's inauguration. Very exciting."

Hmm, now we know! So, I guess I'll be off to Portobello soon too!

Ashley Isham back in SIngapore

The London based Singaporean designer, Ashley Isham is finally opening up his first boutique right here in his home ground. What could be a better place for a sleek and elegant label than The Fullerton. The new boutique will have its own entrance as it soaks up the ambience and the architectural elegance of Singapore's top hotel.

The boutique is scheduled to be opened this month and it will carry an extra exclusive range of 50 dresses in 10 designs in this standalone boutique plus the ready-to-wear spring/summer 08 collection. So, here is another reason to visit The Fullerton Hotel.
